Biography
Mr.S (aka Jarrod Sampson) has played for 19 years around Adelaide clubs, bars, and at nearly every rave/dance parties since he began spinning in 1989. He has experienced Adelaide’s dance music history and how it has evolved into the present year and has played almost every style that dance music has to offer. With one of the countries biggest record collections at hand, he is one of the most diverse DJ’s you will find, playing house, electro, breaks, techno, trance, psy trance, hard dance, freeform, and anything in between, and regularly playing 2-3 nights a week over various genres keeps him on his toes. He has played in almost every city in Australia, and also toured the UK in 2002 playing at Logic at The Fridge, Timeless at Camden Palace, Cardiff and Swansea in Wales, and also played in Las Vegas in the USA in 2003. He has supported almost every hard dance international DJ that has been to Australia and was also asked by Lab 4 to be their support DJ for their national tour of Australia in 2005. On the production side of things, Jarrod has had releases out on Arktik Records and on Spin Hard Records with more productions planned in 2008. The Global NRG triple CD out in 2007 was mixed by Karim, Banga Matt, and Mr.S where Jarrod showcased a disc of Volatile releases of past, present, and future.
He championed the hard house sound in Adelaide and has won the most popular Hard House/NRG DJ at the 2003 South Australian Dance Music Awards and recently won the most popular overall DJ in 2007 as well as most popular label and also being inducted into the Dance Music Hall Of Fame for his service to the South Australian Dance Music scene. With such a large passion for music he started Direct Vinyl Distribution in 2003 which supplies all types of dance music to record shops and online stores around Australia and New Zealand.
